Ambition

What is ambition? Different people have different views on its meaning. Joseph Epstein, a famous American writer, once said that as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about. For this view, I couldn’t agree more. From my point of view, ambition is a faith for everyone, we need this faith, whatever decision we make, finally we get our ambition, the entrepreneur decide to strengthen his business at expense of his family, he has his ambition, he becomes a successful entrepreneur; a student should have ambition to get good grades in school, only have this kind of ambition can we succeed in our study. This faith can make us get through the difficulties and obstacles make our life become perfect, make our life significant.

At the second place, ambition is the guiding light in our life; it can light up our path, and make sure our head in the correct way. I would go so far to say that a right ambition can make a person more upright and enterprising; but on the contrary, a wrong ambition can destroy a person, it can lead to the terrible result that beyond our imagination. Our country’s first chairman-chairman Mao is the best example. During the first half of his life, he owned the right ambition; he determined to lead our country and people to fight against Japanese imperialism and nationalist party. This ambition had ever helped him complete China's

unity, and it also made him become a great man. But in his waning years, he launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution; this wrong ambition made our country become more behindhand and left the stain in his life. This shows that the ambition can lead our path of life.

Lastly, just like Joseph Epstein said, Ambition is decided and chosen by ourselves, different people have different ambition. Maybe a student think the study is trivial for him, while regard the business as the most important thing, we cannot say that he has no ambition, that is his own decision, the ambition is not only great thing, but also something that we think important for us.

To sum up, Ambition is a faith for our life giving our power and energy to realize the value; and it is our life’s guiding light leading our way; and everyone has rights to decide their future.
