My Furry Friends at Home

Hi there! My name is Sophie and I'm 9 years old. I love animals more than anything in the world! We have some really cool pets at my house that I want to tell you all about.

First up is my dog Buddy. He's a golden retriever and just the sweetest, cuddliest pup you'll ever meet. Buddy has been my best friend since I was just a baby. My parents got him from a nice family who couldn't keep him anymore when he was 2 years old. Now he's 11 which makes him pretty old for a dog, but you'd never know it by how energetic and playful he still is!

Buddy has long golden fur that is so soft and fun to pet. His tail never stops wagging and he gets so excited whenever I come home from school. He loves giving kisses and always makes me laugh with how goofy he acts. Fetching is Buddy's absolute favorite game. He can play for hours and hours chasing after tennis balls and sticks. We have to be careful though because sometimes he gets a little too excited and accidentally knocks me over!

My favorite things about Buddy are how smart he is and what a great cuddler he is. He knows so many tricks like sit, stay,

shake, roll over, and play dead. I taught him most of those myself! Buddy is also really good at following commands and does whatever you ask him to. At night he snuggles up right next to me in my bed and we fall asleep together. He's just the cuddliest, loyalest dog ever.

The only bad thing about Buddy is how much he sheds! His fur gets everywhere - on the furniture, the floors, my clothes. My mom has to vacuum constantly. But I don't even care because I love my Buddy so much.

In addition to Buddy, we also have two cats at my house - Oreo and Nala. Oreo is my cat and Nala is my parents' cat. They're both indoor cats and they're kind of an odd couple! Oreo is a tuxedo cat, which means she is black and white. She's 5 years old and the most chill, low-maintenance cat ever. Oreo loves sleeping in sunny spots and just lounging around all day. She's not much of a cuddler or player compared to Nala. But Oreo always comes up to me for some friendly head scratches and pets. I like how independent and content she is just hanging out and doing her own thing.

My favorite thing about Oreo is how smart she is. She knows her name really well and will come when I call her. She also does some cute little meows to let me know when she wants food or

attention. Sometimes she meows at me just to be silly and start a little conversation! Oreo uses a scratching post religiously instead of the furniture and she's really good about using her litter box. She's just an all-around easy, well-behaved cat. Now Nala on the other hand...she's a little rascal! Nala is a 2-year-old orange tabby and she has so much energy and get into everything. My parents got Nala as a kitten when I was 7 and she's basically my little sister. Nala loves to play and she'll pounce and chase anything that moves - toys, strings, my dog Buddy's tail! She's basically a cat version of a doggy with how high-energy and rambunctious she is.

Unlike Oreo, Nala is super cuddly and always wants to be wherever the action is. She sleeps on my parents' bed every night and she'll come jump up on the couch or my lap whenever I'm watching TV or reading a book. Nala loves getting petted and she'll roll over for belly rubs all day long if you let her.

The downside to having such a playful kitty is that Nala is always getting into mischief! She's extremely curious and loves climbing up onto high surfaces like shelves, cabinets, and countertops. Mom is always telling her to get down from there! Nala has also learned how to open doors and cabinets, so we have to be really careful about keeping things put away that she

could get into. She's knocked over and broken a few lamps and vases from her wild antics.

Even though she drives my parents a little crazy sometimes, I just think Nala is hilarious. She does the silliest things and has such a big, goofy personality. I love sitting on the floor and \"wrestling\" with her, letting her kick my hands with her back feet and chase after little toys. Nala has so much spunk and she always keeps me laughing!

So those are my furry little siblings - Buddy, Oreo, and Nala. Between the loving dog and the two very different cats, my house is never a boring place! I'm so lucky to have all three of them to play with and keep me company. Pets just make a home full of even more love, laughter, and fun. I don't know what I'd do without my amazing animal buddies!
