Greetings from South Beach!
A former colleague came back to office to visit last week. He has retired for a couple of years. He also has a pretty serious kidney problem and requires dialysis twice a week. I noticed that he has lost some weight. I greeted him and commented on his weight loss. He cheerfully shook my hand with a grin on his face and said, "Be careful, I'm now down to my fighting weight!" You know, that's sort of those boxing guy's talk. That brought even bigger laughter in the office.
Mind you, a session of kidney dialysis would take 4 hours, and he has to endure that twice a week. And he has to take care of his wife who suffers alzheimer's disease. Although they have two grown up children, but they can only visit them once in a while. Even with these life's tough challenges, he remains optimistic like he did that day. I think he deals with his harsh life bravely like a man. He's my hero.
State of the group: We are ranked 184th today. We still have 8 members. And we are still hopping around in the most active groups list.
Have a great week guys!
